New Mexico Dogs Deserve Better* is an all-volunteer, 501 (c) 3 registered non-profit organization dedicated to helping chained/penned dogs throughout the state of New Mexico and beyond. Although our priority is chained/penned dogs, we have extended our New Mexico outreach to include the many other desperate situations dogs find themselves in from no fault of their own. WE ARE THEIR VOICE…sometimes we are their ONLY voice!! Our focus in on education, community outreach, rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and networking…all for the LOVE of DOG!

We do not currently have a shelter facility, and depend on the kindness of those in the community that wish to help by providing a safe, loving foster home for the dogs in our program until their forever home is found.

While the ultimate goal of NMDDB is to free chained dogs from their tethered misery – to see them living inside of a warm and loving home – our short-term goal is to offer some level of comfort to those outside, enduring the harsh conditions. In order to help the many dogs in need, we rely exclusively on donations.

There are a variety of ways you can help us help them, ranging from making a tax-deductible donation, to reporting a chained, neglected or abused dog that needs our help. You can browse through our many success stories to see the difference in the lives of dogs your support makes possible (It only takes one person to throw away an animal, but it takes a whole VILLAGE to find it a new home!!!). Due to the nature of our work, not all of our endeavors end on a happy note. Heartbreak goes hand in hand with rescue. Some stories are disturbing, but this is the unfortunate reality of what we face every single day.
